Assistant/Associate Professor of Communication
Job Summary
The Department of Modern Languages, Communication, and Philosophy at Tuskegee University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Communication beginning Fall 2026. Specialties in any area of communication studies welcome, with preference given to applicants who have experience teaching/expertise in film studies, nonverbal communication, intercultural communication, communication ethics, and/or group/organizational communication, and/or experience supervising students completing internships. Teaching load is 4/4, typically consisting of 1-2 sections of public speaking plus other communication major courses.
Essential Job Duties
- Teaching assigned Communication courses (four courses per semester in Fall and Spring semester) Developing syllabi, assessments, and course materials in alignment with institutional guidelines.
- Using varied teaching methods to promote student [earning and success.
- Advising and mentoring undergraduate students.
- Maintaining accessibility through office hours and electronic communication.
- Contributing to curriculum development and program assessment.
- Maintaining professional relationships with students, colleagues, and administration.
- Participating in departmental, divisional, and institutional meetings and submitting required reports.
- Engaging in professional development and demonstrating a commitment to instructional excellence.
- Engaging in scholarly research. Participating in service to the department, University, and/or community.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ph.D. in Communication or a closely related discipline. Record of successful teaching experience at the college level. (preferred)
