Job Title: Personal Trainer/ Wellness coach
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Reports to: Health and Wellness Director
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS include the following, other duties may be assigned:
1. Thinks, communicates and behaves as a cause-driven leader and role model for other staff and members when it comes to desired staff behaviors; promotes youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility in all job-related functions.
2. Conducts individual meetings with new members to discuss goals, gifts and interests
3. Introduces new and existing members to group exercise communities.
4. Helps members to connect with one another to form friendships
5. Regularly checks on members’ progress in meeting goals (both formally and informally).
6. Makes members feel welcome by learning and using their names.
7. Assists members in reaching goals by demonstrating proper use of equipment in the wellness center; observes the members’ use of equipment and detects/corrects activities that may not contribute to goal achievement.
8. Ensures the safety of members in the wellness center by maintaining the equipment in a clean, safe, and working order.
9. Instructs small group wellness center courses (i.e. orientations, challenges, wellness coaching).
10. Follows YMCA policies and procedures; responds to emergency situations.

QUALIFICATIONS:
● Has obtained Personal Training Certification through NASM, ACE, NSCA, etc.
● Passionate belief in the Y’s cause of nurturing the potential of all youth, supporting healthy living for all people and finding ways to help and support our neighbors.
● Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
● Proven track record of developing authentic relationships with others.
● Attend New Employee Orientation within 60 days of hire.
● CPR/AED and First Aid and needs to be obtained within 60 days. Must keep certifications current throughout employment.
