Job Summary
Tuscan Barnds is seeking a dependable and skilled Equipment Maintenance Technician to join our maintenance team. This position is responsible for the inspection, preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, and installation of commercial kitchen equipment, production equipment, and facility systems. The ideal candidate is mechanically inclined, safety-conscious, and committed to minimizing equipment downtime while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform preventive maintenance on kitchen, production, and facility equipment according to established schedules.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and plumbing issues and complete timely repairs.
- Install, inspect, test, and maintain commercial kitchen equipment, including ovens, fryers, grills, mixers, refrigeration units, dishwashers, and food preparation equipment.
- Maintain production equipment such as conveyors, packaging machines, mixers, pumps, motors, compressors, and related machinery.
- Perform general building maintenance, including basic plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, lighting, HVAC support, and minor facility repairs.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requests.
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work orders, and equipment service records.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, food safety, and company safety standards.
- Coordinate with vendors and contractors when specialized repairs are required.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe maintenance shop and work areas.
- Recommend equipment improvements and preventive maintenance initiatives to increase reliability and efficiency.
Required Experience
Experience maintaining and repairing one or more of the following:
- Commercial kitchen equipment
- Food production and processing equipment
- Packaging and conveyor systems
- Refrigeration and freezer equipment
- Electric motors, pumps, and gearboxes
- Pneumatic and hydraulic systems
- HVAC and ventilation equipment
- Plumbing and electrical systems
- General building and facility maintenance
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training preferred.
- 3 years of equipment maintenance experience in manufacturing, food service, commercial kitchens, or industrial environments preferred.
- Strong mechanical and electrical troubleshooting skills.
- Ability to read equipment manuals, blueprints, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation.
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) is a plus.
- Ability to safely operate maintenance tools, power tools, and testing equipment.
- Valid driver's license preferred.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in varying temperatures, confined spaces, and on ladders when required.
Pay: $25.00 - $35.00 per hour
