Job Summary:
Due to grant requirements, US Citizenship is required. This position is responsible for conducting chemical analysis and experiments, supporting process development and operating pilot systems.
Essential Job Functions and Duties
- Perform qualitative and quantitative chemical analysis.
- Develop, validate, and optimize analytical methods
- Maintain, calibrate, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments
- Assist in scaling up laboratory processes to pilot production
- Troubleshoot process issues and recommend improvements
- Record process data and evaluate performance metrics
- Maintain a laboratory notebook and writes reports on method development.
- Writes/ revises internal and regulatory standards, policies, and procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Qualifications:
Experience and Education
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar engineering field of study.
- 1-3 yrs experience with solvent extraction pilot operations preferred, advanced laboratory skills.
Knowledge, Skills and Attributes
- Science - Using scientific rules and methods to solve problems.
- Problem Solving - Identifying problems and reviewing related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.
- Advanced laboratory skills including wet chemistry experience, solvent extraction experience a plus.
- Experience with analytical instrumentation and data analysis
- Computer - Ability to use various computer software and systems.
Work Environment and Physical Requirements:
- Laboratory environment working with various chemicals and equipment.
- Ability to stand at the bench and work in a laboratory environment
- Noise level is usually moderate.
- Able to lift 55 pounds and assist in moving 50-gallon drums/barrels on occasion
