Key Areas of Responsibility
- Provide strategic oversight of the firm’s HR policies, procedures, employee handbook, templates, and related documentation.
- Build, refine, and standardize workflows supporting recruitment, onboarding, performance management, compensation administration, and employee exits.
- Direct employment compliance activities across multiple jurisdictions and translate regulatory developments into updated practices, policies, and controls.
- Plan and execute comprehensive reviews of HR documentation, personnel records, worker classifications, contractor arrangements, position descriptions, and departmental procedures.
- Represent Human Resources during internal reviews and third-party audits, coordinating documentation and responses across relevant stakeholders.
- Oversee HR technology, data administration, and workflow optimization, including the performance review platform and other enterprise HR systems.
- Administer key risk and compliance programs involving workplace conduct training, ethics reporting, background-screening determinations, workers’ compensation, and employment-based immigration matters.
- Lead operational initiatives related to external service providers, organizational structures, job architecture, contractor documentation, and other cross-functional priorities.
- Establish scalable practices that strengthen consistency, accuracy, accountability, and service delivery throughout the organization.
Required Background
- Prior Human Resources experience within a law firm is required.
- A minimum of 15 years of progressive HR experience, including at least 10 years in a people-management or functional leadership capacity.
- Demonstrated specialization in HR operations, employment compliance, policy, and governance; this is not a traditional HR generalist position.
- Advanced experience drafting, implementing, interpreting, and maintaining workplace policies.
- Strong knowledge of employment requirements affecting organizations with employees across multiple states.
- Substantial experience leading HR audits and addressing resulting findings.
- Proven success redesigning processes, introducing controls, and improving operational efficiency.
- Hands-on experience with HRIS platforms, HR databases, reporting tools, and technology-enabled workflow improvements.
- Ability to operate effectively across multiple offices, reporting relationships, and stakeholder groups.
- Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Visio.
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution.
Salary : $120,000 - $150,000
