Position Overview
We are seeking a Mechanical Engineer II to join our Engineering Department and play a key role in designing and developing innovative products for the Powersports Industry. This role combines mechanical engineering expertise with creative design, taking products from concept to production while ensuring functionality, appeal, and manufacturability.
Key Responsibilities
- Produce high-quality sketches and imagery to support ideation, stakeholder communication, and design reviews.
- Develop detailed 3D models in SolidWorks, including complex assemblies and manufacturable components.
- Create comprehensive design records, including Bills of Materials (BOMs), CAD models, part/assembly drawings, wire routing diagrams, and torque specifications.
- Translate product concepts and requirements from Brand Managers into innovative, aesthetically appealing designs.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams—including engineering, design, marketing, and customers—to align product goals.
- Manage project timelines in accordance with the Product Development Process (PDP).
- Participate in supplier design reviews to ensure manufacturability, quality, and cost objectives.
- Produce functional prototypes using 3D printing and fabrication methods (clay, wood, plastic, metal).
- Refine designs based on testing, customer feedback, and production constraints.
- Conduct research into competitor products, industry trends, and customer needs to inspire new product development.
- Lead design reviews, communicate design intent, and recommend modifications as needed.
- Stay current with Powersports industry trends to anticipate market shifts and maintain product relevance.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
- Proficiency with SolidWorks CAD (2 years), including surfacing and EPDM.
- Knowledge of manufacturing processes, material selection, and design feasibility.
- Strong sketching and visualization skills for conceptual design.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Suite, and MS Project.
- Strong organizational and communication skills across multiple departments.
- Demonstrated leadership in driving product development from concept through market launch.
- Ability to manage multiple projects under strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Detail-oriented, innovative, adaptable, and results-driven.
- Strong problem-solving abilities with a creative, process-focused approach.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field (preferred).
- 3–5 years of product design engineering experience (or equivalent combination of education and experience).
- Strong sketching and prototyping skills.
- Experience with rapid prototyping technologies a plus.
- Ability to sit, stand, walk, communicate, and use hands for extended periods.
- Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs.
- Frequent use of standard office and CAD equipment.
- Mental ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Ability to drive locally as needed.
- Onsite role in a professional office environment.
- Moderate noise level.
- Routine use of office equipment (laptop, phone, printer, etc.).
