What are the responsibilities and job description for the Recreation Dept Aide Part-Time position at Tuolumne Me-Wuk Tribal Council?
Position Summary: Under the supervision of the Recreation Department Manager, the Recreation Department Aide will supervise, prepare and engage Tribal After-School Program and Summer Program participants in fun, healthy, creative, safe and age-appropriate activities. Recreation Department participants will primarily be in Grades K-8th.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide appropriate supervision of participants during all After School Program and Summer Program activities and scheduled outdoor/playground times.
- Provide a warm and caring environment and be able to engage participants in activities and play that stimulates their development.
- Maintain a safe, clean and organized environment for all participants.
- Must be able to comfortably managing small and/or large groups of children during activities.
- Assist in planning, buying, preparing and serving snacks and meals.
- Develop and plan enriching and creative activities that incorporate the goals, mission and vision of the Tribal Recreation Department and the Tuolumne Band of Me-Wuk Indians.
- Plan engaging physical activities that are developmentally appropriate for the ages of the participants.
- Be responsible for daily activity and room preparations.
- Attend and engage in occasional parent participation, community, tribal and school events that may be in the evening or weekends.
- Report incidents, accidents, or issues that concern or involve participants, staff, parents or facilities directly to the Recreation Department Manager.
- Coordinate with other Tribal, County, State Agencies and Departments to provide activities or services for participants.
- Ensure compliance of all rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
- General maintenance of parks and facilities.
- Maintain and record daily attendance of all participants.
- Perform other duties as required.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Must be a self-starter and be able to engage with children of all ages.
- Must have previous experience working with school age children.
- Must be able to keep a clean and tidy workspace.
- Must be able to establish a professional level of rapport with each family to ensure quality care and a friendly environment for all participants.
- Must have First Aide/CPR certification or be willing to obtain certification upon hire.
- Ability to use modern office practices and technology, including the use of computers for data and word processing.
- Ability to enforce compliance with safety codes, rules and regulations in all department programs and activities.
- Ability to gain cooperation through discussion and persuasion.
- Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing.
- Must possess a valid California driver’s license and comply with the requirements of the Tribe’s driving policy and insurance requirements.
