Job purpose
The mission of the Tunnel to Towers Foundation is to honor the sacrifice of firefighter Stephen Siller who laid down his life to save others on September 11, 2001. We honor our military and first responders who continue to make the supreme sacrifice of life and limb for our country. The Tunnel to Towers Foundation is also committed to eradicating homelessness amongst our nation’s veterans.
Duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for assisting the Vice President of Internal Affairs with broad legal responsibilities, supporting the day-to-day operations and mission of the Foundation
- Extensive knowledge of various areas of the law, including: contracts; real estate; employment; intellectual property; trusts; entertainment; and corporate governance
- Drafting, review and negotiation of contracts and agreements; working with and directing outside counsel; researching statutes and law; facilitating payments
- Assisting land acquisition and construction departments with legal issues; review of real estate purchase and sale documents
- Performing daily legal and administrative operations to support a rapidly-growing non-profit
- Assisting across departments with legal issues and insurance matters
- Maintaining the Foundation’s commercial insurance obligations
- Assisting the Legal Team with daily functions of legal department, facilitating payments, and general administrative tasks
- Non-profit experience strongly preferred
- Prior experience and excellent skills in contract drafting and review required
- Prior experience in contract negotiation required
- Excellent time management skills

Qualifications
- JD required
- New York State Bar Admission
- 5-7 years of experience at a law firm or other in-house position.
- Excellent drafting and review skills; comprehensive command of contractual and legal language; prior experience drafting and reviewing contracts.
- Ability to prioritize tasks, keeping in mind necessary and strict deadlines.
- Good demeanor and ability to remain level-headed and calm when communicating with both colleagues and outside counsel or other entities.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office/ Google Suite (or equivalent).
- Pre-employment screening, including a background check, is required.

Working conditions
Special working conditions may include: a change in days worked (including occasional weekends), shift hours, and/or working conditions (outdoors or other locations) when participating and assisting in special events needed.
Salary : $125,000 - $135,000
