Tunnel City Coffee is the Berkshires' home for seriously good coffee and thoughtfully made food. With locations on Spring Street and at Mass MoCA, we're a community anchor — and our bakery program is a big part of what makes us special. We bake from scratch, we care about craft, and we love what we do.
The Role
We're looking for a skilled and dependable Assistant Baker or a skilled cook willing to learn. You will support daily production across our café locations. You'll work closely with our lead baker to prepare pastries, breads, and other baked goods that meet TCC's quality standards — with early morning hours, a steady rhythm, and real ownership over your work.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and bake daily items including pastries, breads, scones, muffins, and seasonal specials
- Follow established recipes with precision while maintaining consistent quality and portion standards
- Set up and break down the baking station; maintain a clean and organized workspace throughout the shift
- Monitor par levels and communicate inventory needs to the lead baker or manager on duty
- Receive and properly store baking ingredients and supplies
- Adhere to food safety standards and health code regulations at all times
- Support product development and seasonal menu changes as needed
What We're Looking For
- 1–2 years of professional baking or pastry experience (café or bakery environment preferred) or restaurant kitchen experience
- Comfort working early morning shifts — production typically begins before or around opening
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to execute recipes consistently at volume
- Ability to work efficiently in a small-team kitchen environment
- Genuine enthusiasm for quality food and the TCC brand
Compensation & Hours
- $24–$27/hour depending on experience
- Up to 40 hours per week
- Morning shifts
