This is a work-from-home position, but we do have an office building in Ottawa Lake, MI if you prefer to work there. The office is modern, open, bright, and very comfortable. There is a stocked pantry, full kitchen, gym, ping pong table, outdoor seating, pond- it is not your typical stuffy office. It's actually fun to work.

Join our team as an Accountant/Bookkeeper and play a vital role in maintaining accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and supporting our organization’s financial health. This energetic position offers the opportunity to work with a variety of accounting software and financial concepts, contributing to the smooth operation of our accounting functions. Whether managing accounts payable and receivable, reconciling balance sheets, or preparing journal entries, you will be at the forefront of our financial processes, driving efficiency and accuracy every day.
Duties
- Manage day-to-day bookkeeping tasks including data entry, journal entries, and double-entry bookkeeping to ensure precise financial records.
- Reconcile general ledger accounts and perform balance sheet reconciliations regularly to maintain data integrity.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections while maintaining vendor relationships.
- Prepare and review financial statements, including income statements, cash flow reports, and balance sheets in accordance with GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Support payroll management using Gusto.
- Conduct account analysis to identify discrepancies or anomalies; resolve issues promptly to uphold financial accuracy.
- Assist with budget preparation, financial forecasting, and audit support..
- Utilize various software such as Zoho, QuickBooks, Excel, and Outlook.
- Perform tax-related tasks including preparation of tax filings and supporting documentation for audits or reviews.
Experience
- Proven experience in accounting or bookkeeping roles within corporate settings.
- Strong knowledge of GAAP and experience with public accounting practices preferred.
- Hands-on experience with multiple accounting software platforms such as QuickBooks, and Zoho.
- Familiarity with payroll management systems like Gusto is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated ability in account reconciliation, balance sheet analysis, and journal entry preparation.
- Knowledge of financial concepts including debits & credits, account analysis, budgeting processes and credit analysis.
- Ability to handle complex data entry tasks efficiently with high attention to detail.
- Excellent understanding of financial software integration and technical accounting principles.
