Structural & Payload Design Engineer 3

This posting is for a contract assignment and is not a full-time employment offer with Boeing. Candidates selected for roles will be employed as contract workers through a Boeing approved 3rd party for the duration of the specified project.

Client is seeking an Experienced Payloads Design Engineers to support the Washington Interiors Team.

Payloads is seeking candidates with experience in the following areas:
- Experience with engineering processes and tools; including CSDT, CATIA, ENOVIA, PDM, and associated release processes.
- Experience with aircraft cabin and cargo engineering products and designs
- Experience with engineering support within a production system
- Experience with direct engagement working with/for aerospace suppliers or airlines
- Experience supporting the validation of compliance to regulatory requirements
- Experience working with regulators
- Experience with Design for manufacturing
- Experience with Aircraft cargo compartment and handling system design, integration, and/or certification
- Experience working in a cross-functional team.

Position Responsibilities:
- Assists to develop, integrate and document structural and interior payload system requirements to establish the system design.
- Develops, maintains and modifies basic structural and interior payload system and component designs, using 3-D Computer Aided Design tools and/or other design methods, to provide product definition to other engineering groups, production operations, suppliers and external customers throughout the product lifecycle.
- Performs tests to validate and verify systems and components meet requirements and specifications.
- Assists with supplier development, test and production activities and coordination with the supplier to optimize the design and achieve program goals.
- Supports investigation of emerging technologies to develop concepts for future product designs to meet projected requirements.
- Works under general supervision.

Education:
- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering (with a focus on Mechanical, Civil, Aerospace Aeronautical or Material Sciences). 5 years’ related work experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):
- Basic understanding and demonstrated experience with FAA Title 14 Part 25 and/or EASA equivalent.
- Experience in aerospace interiors, materials and properties, design criteria and release processes - Boeing experience is a plus
- 2 years of experience in program or project management, leading project and/or program proposals of varying complexity (including: development and execution of schedule milestones, financial assessments, resource assessments, risk and/or issues management, etc.).
- Demonstrates good problem solving skills and critical thinking
Ability to use a variety of media to clearly convey information and ideas to a variety of audiences
