Duties
- Conduct detailed clinical assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding standards to determine client needs and develop tailored treatment strategies.
- Deliver individual and group counseling sessions focusing on addiction medicine, behavioral therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), and motivational interviewing techniques to promote recovery.
- Facilitate crisis management interventions, including crisis intervention strategies for patients experiencing PTSD or other mental health crises, ensuring safety and stabilization.
- Implement evidence-based practices such as applied behavior analysis (ABA) and behavior management to support behavioral health goals across diverse populations.
- Maintain accurate medical documentation, patient records, and progress notes in compliance with HIPAA regulations while utilizing CPT coding for billing purposes.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams for case management, patient assessment, and discharge planning to ensure continuity of care within home, community, hospital settings or outpatient clinics.
- Engage in research activities when applicable to stay current with best practices in addiction counseling, mental health counseling, and behavioral health advancements.
Experience
- Proven experience working in behavioral health or addiction counseling environments such as hospitals, outpatient clinics, or community care settings.
- Demonstrated expertise in psychotherapy modalities including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), motivational interviewing, and crisis intervention techniques.
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical records management, ICD coding systems (ICD-9/10), and medical documentation standards.
- Strong background in patient care assessment methods including intake procedures, diagnostic evaluation, and case management strategies.
- Experience delivering child & family counseling or home & community care is a plus; familiarity with PTSD care is highly desirable.
