Peaceful Pathways Mental Health Agency is seeking a motivated and compassionate Part-Time Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) to join our growing team in our Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP) in South Hill, VA. This role offers an opportunity to work in a supportive, team-oriented environment while providing high-quality substance use treatment services to individuals on their recovery journey.
This is a part-time, contract position (approximately 20–25 hours per week) with a flexible schedule and opportunity for additional hours as program census grows.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual and group counseling services to clients in a structured PHP setting
- Conduct substance use assessments and assist with treatment planning
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in accordance with state and Medicaid requirements
- Support clients in developing coping skills, relapse prevention strategies, and recovery goals
- Collaborate with clinical team members to ensure coordinated care
- Participate in team meetings and case reviews as needed
Qualifications
- Must hold a valid Credentialed Alcoholism and Substance Abuse Counselor (CSAC) certification in Virginia
- Experience working with individuals with substance use disorders preferred
- Knowledge of evidence-based practices and recovery-oriented approaches
- Strong documentation and organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Compensation
- $33.00 – $36.00 per hour (based on experience)
- Higher rates may be considered for candidates with PHP/IOP or substance use treatment experience
