Schusterman-Benson Library is looking for a Shelver to help us sort and place our returned materials, while maintaining neat and orderly displays and shelves. Our Shelver will also aid our customers in an excellent experience at the Library by connecting them to the right people, places and services for their needs.
Salary: $11.50/hr.
Status: Part Time - 16 hour/week
Schedule: Monday through Thursday: 9am-12pm; Friday: 9am- 1pm
Job Summary:
To help customers have an excellent experience, sorts and places books and other library materials in proper locations; maintains neat, tidy and orderly conditions; helps connect customers to the appropriate zone or service; and assists with self-service circulation as required. Assists with attractively displaying materials. Must be flexible and adaptable throughout the workday in the type and location of work to be accomplished in order to provide superior customer experiences.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Work requires pushing moderately heavy items (up to 50 pounds), lifting up to 25 pounds, and very long periods of walking and/or standing, and frequently requires stooping, stretching and bending.
Work environment involves everyday risks or discomforts which require normal safety precautions, e.g. use of safe work place practices with office equipment, and/or avoidance of trips and falls. There are occasional minor discomforts from exposure to less than optimal temperatures (extreme cold or heat) and air conditions due to exposure to the outdoors.

- Good communication and interpersonal skills;
- Ability to read and perform alphabetic and numeric sorting;
- Basic computer skills, including ability to learn library’s automated system;
- Ability to help customers with their basic computer needs, including e-mail, answering Microsoft product questions, and navigating the Internet;
- Ability to provide directions.
- Some high school education or training required;
- No previous experience required.
