The Tulsa City-County Library Maintenance Technician performs various duties for the physical maintenance and upkeep of Central and branch library facilities. The Maintenance Technician will specialize in coordinating of our TCCL fleet vehicles.
This is a safety sensitive position
Some additional responsibilities include:
- Organize preventative maintenance schedules for all fleet vehicles
- Maintain accurate service records, inspection logs, and compliance documentation
- Coordinate with external vendors and service providers when necessary
- Monitor fleet-related budgets, including parts, labor, and replacement planning
- Ensure all vehicles meet safety standards, DOT regulations, and operational readiness
- Maintains library facilities, including HVAC, roofing, plumbing, sheet-rocking, minor electrical, and concrete work as directed.
- Assists with delivery and library grounds keeping, including lawn mowing, tree trimming, planting, irrigation repair and maintaining flower beds, removing weeds, snow removal.
- May paint, as required, to maintain appearance of Central and branch libraries.
- Performs janitorial duties including sweeping, cleaning, and washing windows, including cleaning carpet and upholstery.
- May receive, sort, and distribute intra- and inter-library mail, conduct pickups and deliveries for Central library, unpack and sort new materials and freight, and/or sort and prepare outgoing mail for Central and branch libraries.
- Provide support for events at various branch locations to include, but is not limited to, set up of furniture, facilities and other equipment as directed by the event coordinator and Facilities Manager.
- Perform the following Safety Sensitive functions:
- Operation of company owned vehicles, forklift, heavy equipment, machinery, and power tools;
- Extracts, compresses, handles and/or transports potentially volatile, flammable, or combustible components;
- Repairs, maintains and monitors the performance of equipment and machinery
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Experience in vehicle maintenance, fleet management, or related field preferred.
- Experience with preventative maintenance programs and fleet tracking systems preferred.
- Strong Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently.
- Attention to detail and commitment to safety.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs.
- Skill in maintenance, mechanical, painting, grounds keeping and carpentry work.
- Ability to communicate verbally and in writing effectively.
- Ability to safely maneuver and operate a library vehicle and equipment.
- Ability to pass a pre-employment (post-offer) physical and drug screen.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver’s License and acceptable driving record.
Education & Experience
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Salary: $21.10 / hr.
Status: Full Time

Schedule :
Monday - Friday, flexible availability and occasional evenings and weekends required.

Physical and Environmental Conditions:
Physical Activity: Work involves considerable physical exertion, such as regularly lifting of heavy items (up to 80 pounds) such as carts or crates full of books, on a highly frequent basis and/or assuming awkward positions.
Work Environment: Work involves risks of discomforts, which require special safety precautions, e.g., working around moving parts, carts, or machines; may require working in adverse weather conditions. Work environment involves routine discomforts from exposure to moderate heat, cold, moisture/wetness and unpleasant air conditions. The job may involve routine exposure to soiled materials and light chemical substances such as cleaning solutions.
Travel: Routine, in-town travel using Library-owned vehicles is required.
