Role Description
This full-time, on-site Workers’ Compensation Specialist role is based in Tulsa, OK. The specialist will manage workers’ compensation claims from initial intake through resolution, including verifying coverage, gathering medical documentation, and coordinating with physicians, staff, and external stakeholders. Daily responsibilities include communicating with employers, insurance carriers, adjusters, case managers, and injured workers to provide updates, clarify treatment plans, and ensure timely authorizations and approvals. The role also involves monitoring claim status, tracking deadlines, addressing billing and reimbursement issues, and maintaining accurate, compliant records in practice management systems. The Workers’ Compensation Specialist collaborates closely with clinical and administrative teams to support efficient workflows and a positive experience for patients and partners.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated experience in workers’ compensation claims handling and claims management, including end-to-end claim lifecycle oversight.
- Knowledge of insurance processes and regulations, particularly as they relate to workers’ compensation and medical billing.
- Background in employee benefits and an understanding of how workers’ compensation interacts with other benefit programs is preferred.
- Strong customer service skills, with the ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with diverse stakeholders.
- High attention to detail, strong organizational and time-management abilities, and proficiency with electronic health records and practice management software.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced clinical environment and exercise sound judgment in handling confidential information.
- Prior experience in an orthopedic, sports medicine, or healthcare setting is beneficial.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or certification in healthcare administration, insurance, or a related field is a plus.
