Assistant Director, Donor Relations
Office of Advancement – Donor Relations
Location: New Orleans, LA
Summary
The Assistant Director of Donor Relations is a full-time position responsible for collaborating with members of the Advancement team and with colleagues across the university on projects that promote stewardship, recognition, and engagement of donors at all levels and to any area of the university. This position has primary responsibility for implementing donor acknowledgment programs and managing physical donor recognition projects. The Assistant Director also supports other donor relations projects, programs, and colleagues as directed by the Senior Associate Director of Donor Relations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
• High attention to detail and to producing error-free work in a fast-paced and high-stakes environment.
• High level of technological savvy with demonstrated experience using Microsoft Office programs and with particular emphasis on Word and Excel.
• Demonstrated analytical and strategic thinking capabilities.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality, handle pressure, and be flexible.
• Self-starter with the willingness and ability to quickly learn and adapt to new tools, software platforms, processes, and protocols as needed.
• Excellent organization and documentation skills.
• Ability to manage multiple demands and/or projects simultaneously while meeting all timeline milestones and deadlines.
• High degree of professionalism and understanding of professional protocol.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team while maintaining open lines of communication with colleagues.

• Ability to work with diverse constituencies.
Required Education and/or Experience
• Bachelor’s Degree and 2 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or a comparable role with transferable skills including project management, writing, and/or data analysis;
OR
• High School Diploma or equivalent and 8 years of experience in donor relations, fundraising, or a comparable role with transferable skills including project management, writing, and/or data analysis.
Any appropriate combination of relevant education, experience, and/or certifications may be considered.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience working in a non-profit setting, preferably within an institution of higher education.
• Knowledge of the basic principles of donor relations and the stewardship of philanthropic support.
• Exceptional skill in Microsoft Excel with a knowledge of macros, pivot tables, and data analysis tools.
• Experience analyzing data to make data-driven business decisions.
• Experience using a Salesforce-based donor management software or similar constituent relationship management platform for fundraising.
Compensation Information
This position is classified as "exempt, salaried" and is assigned to pay grade 25.
