The successful candidate will join a NIH-funded project (Pl, Dr. Patrick Delafontaine) to investigate the role of insulin-like growth factor I (IGF-1) in atherosclerosis in mice and in a large (porcine) animal model. The project studies the relation between IGF-1, cell senescence and atherosclerotic disease and will use a loss-of-function murine model, atherosclerotic pigs and explore mechanisms using in vitro studies. The experience in basic molecular biology and in handling rodents are highly desirable. Basic knowledge of vascular biology and recent lab experience are required.
