Job Overview

Duties
- Design and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with curriculum standards, incorporating technology-enhanced instruction and differentiated learning strategies
- Assess student progress through quizzes, standardized tests, projects, and formative assessments; provide constructive feedback to support growth
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to create a positive learning environment conducive to active participation
- Collaborate with colleagues on curriculum development, instructional design, and integrating IT tools into lessons
- Mentor students academically and personally, offering guidance on study techniques, research projects, and educational pathways
- Maintain accurate records of attendance, grades, lesson plans, and compliance with educational regulations
Requirements
- WV Professional Teaching Certificate in Mathematics 5-9, Education or related field; higher education teaching experience preferred
- Proven classroom experience working with teenagers in diverse educational settings; private school experience is a plus
- Strong knowledge of mathematics including algebra, geometry, calculus, trigonometry, discrete math, and differential equations
- Familiarity with scientific research methods such as dissection techniques in biochemistry or microbiology labs is advantageous
- Proficiency in learning technology tools for lesson planning and implementing IT-integrated lessons
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to adapt teaching methods to various learning styles and special education needs
- Experience in curriculum development, instructional design, and assessment strategies aligned with educational standards
- Ability to manage classroom behavior effectively while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages curiosity and critical thinking
- Knowledge of educational compliance regulations and standardized testing procedures
- Skills in mentoring students through tutoring sessions or academic advising to support individual learning goals
- Laboratory experience or research laboratory background related to biology or chemistry is desirable for interdisciplinary teaching roles
Salary
Salary based on experience and education level per TCBOE salary schedule plus competitive benefits package equal to approximately 35% of direct compensation.
