SUMMARY
The Construction Laborer/Operator is responsible for supporting site development and underground utility projects, including water, sewer, storm, fire line, and infiltration/ex-filtration systems. This role involves site preparation, excavation, demolition, hauling, and utility installation, as well as performing maintenance on existing underground systems. The position requires physical labor, teamwork, and the ability to follow instructions from Foremen and Superintendents to ensure safe and efficient project execution.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Excavate and backfill trenches for utility installations.
- Install and maintain underground utilities (water, sewer, storm drain, fire line).
- Perform layout, set grades, and assist with as-builts.
- Haul, spread, and compact aggregate materials.
- Maintain existing water, sewer, and storm infrastructure.
- Load and unload construction materials.
- Mix, pump, and place concrete, grout, and asphalt.
- Install traffic control devices and prepare safe work zones.
- Operate or assist with construction equipment, including rollers, pumps, generators, and end dump trucks.
- Keep work areas clean, organized, and safe.
- Support Foremen, Superintendents, and other team members as needed.
- Perform site clearing, grading, and demolition.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience:
- High school diploma or GED preferred.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in underground utilities, site work, or related construction.
- Ability to read and follow plans, specifications, and grades.
- Flagger certification preferred (not required).
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to changing project needs.
