Description
The Special Events Staff position assists with event setup, event operations, and park maintenance activities at parks and facilities throughout the district. Responsibilities include event setup and breakdown, site preparation and cleanup, moving equipment and barricades, assisting with day-of event operations, and providing customer service to event attendees. This position also supports general park and facility maintenance activities such as litter collection, restroom cleaning, basic landscaping, and minor repairs while working closely with staff, volunteers, vendors, artists, and patrons.

Pay
$23.32 - $24.79 per hour
The hiring range for this position is $23.32 to $24.79 per hour, based on experience and internal equity. The full hourly range for this job classification is $23.32 to $26.29 per hour. Staff may be eligible for a merit increase at the end of September.
Appointments within the salary range are determined through a pay equity analysis of bona fide factors in accordance with Oregon's Equal Pay Act.
Schedule
This position works approximately 20–25 hours per week. Hours vary based on event and program needs and may include:
- Evenings
- Weekends
- Holidays
- Split shifts
- Double shifts
Part-time employees may work variable schedules of up to 1,560 hours annually.
Working Conditions & Physical Requirements
Special events take place year-round, with increased activity from May through September at parks and facilities throughout the district.
Candidates should be prepared to:
- Work outdoors in varying weather and environmental conditions
- Work on uneven terrain and around event equipment
- Lift, carry, move, push, pull, and drag materials weighing up to 60 pounds
- Bend, kneel, crouch, and reach regularly
- Operate District vehicles and related equipment
- Tow trailers as part of assigned duties
Qualifications and Requirements
Any equivalent combination of education, experience, and training that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Valid Driver's License and acceptable driving record required
- Experience working in park or landscape maintenance or event logistics preferred
- Experience in event production desired
