Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing outstanding customer service and guiding them through check-in procedures
- Collect patient information, verify insurance details, and update medical records accurately within Electronic Medical Records (EMR) or Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems
- Prepare and submit healthcare claims using billing software, ensuring compliance with healthcare claims management standards
- Code medical procedures and diagnoses accurately utilizing CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems
- Follow up on unpaid or denied claims through medical collections processes, working diligently to resolve discrepancies
- Maintain detailed documentation of billing activities, medical records, and correspondence in accordance with privacy regulations
- Collaborate with healthcare providers and insurance companies to resolve billing issues promptly and efficiently
Experience
- Proven experience in medical office administration or medical billing roles with a strong understanding of healthcare claims management
- Familiarity with medical terminology, medical coding (including CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10), and health insurance policies
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications such as Word and Excel as well as experience with billing software, EMR/EHR systems, and healthcare management tools
- Knowledge of medical records management and the ability to navigate complex coding requirements for accurate reimbursement
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in high-pressure situations
- Prior experience working within a healthcare setting is preferred but not mandatory; training will be provided for the right candidate
