Turf Worker

Job Overview

Responsible for the safe maintenance of the designated turf and track racing areas.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operates machinery for the maintenance and care of the racetrack.
• Perform a variety of physically demanding labor on a routine basis and in compliance with all safety standards.
• Ensure general cleanliness of stable and garage area. Clean stalls, alleys, and other backside areas in order to maintain suitable appearance and sanitation standards of facility.
• Mix and spray or spread fertilizers, herbicides, or insecticides onto grass, using hand or automatic sprayers or spreaders.
• Complete all work assignments on time and with accuracy.
• Operate small equipment mower, blower, weed eater, power washer, and a variety of hand tools, table saw, etc. to perform a variety of tasks.

Qualifications 

• High school diploma or GED preferred and/or 1-2 years minimum of related experience.
• Able to work legally in the United States.
• English fluency required, bilingual a plus.
• Requires the skill and ability to perform physically demanding labor on a routine basis.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Must be tolerant to outside work in extreme weather conditions such as heat and humidity, which may often contain dust and debris.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/ or walk for long periods. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 150 lbs. and push, pull, or drag up to 150 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The employee is also exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.
