Racetrack Barn Maintenance Worker

Job Overview

Performs preventative maintenance and repair procedures on Company buildings, mechanical equipment and utility systems within the Backside Operations areas.

 Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Operate the relevant equipment in a safe and effective manner in order to minimize the risk of injury according to all relevant policies and procedures.
• Clean stalls, alleys and other backside areas in order to maintain suitable appearance and sanitation standards of facility.
• Perform safety and maintenance checks to ensure the safety of the equipment and personnel.
• Maintain inventory of any and all necessary supplies. 
• Advise the Track Supervisor of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
• Handle live animals and their waste with care and caution.
• Operate small equipment mower, blower, weed eater, power washer, and a variety of hand tools, table saw, etc. to perform a variety of maintenance tasks.
• Complete all work assignments on time and with accuracy.
• Be advised of the week-to-week work schedule and any changes made according to business needs.
• Follow the directives of all department SOPs and policies regarding uniforms, communications, and work duties.
• Responsible for carrying out all duties with safety as a priority.

Qualifications 

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. 

• High School diploma and/or 1-2 years of relevant experience.
• Must have a valid Driver’s License.
• Requires the skill and ability to perform physically demanding labor on a routine basis.
• Must be able to work under minimal supervision and have good time management skills.
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
• Requires a high energy individual with a positive attitude who can demonstrate good communication skills in a team environment.

• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and/ or walk for long periods. The employee is occasionally required to climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must be able to routinely lift and/or move up to 150 lbs. and push, pull, or drag up to 25 lbs. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to risks associated with travel between buildings and back and forth to other areas as may be required due to business demands. The employee is also exposed to fumes or airborne particles, including second-hand environmental smoke. The noise level in the work environment varies from light to moderate.

Licenses, Certifications, Registration: Requires a Pari-Mutuel License. Requires a valid Florida driver’s License.
