HVAC Technician

TSG Developments Investments Inc.
Hallandale, FL Full Time
POSTED ON 4/1/2026
AVAILABLE BEFORE 5/31/2026

Job Overview

We are looking for a dedicated HVAC Technician who will bring a proactive "find it and fix it" mentality to our service team. The ideal candidate is a self-starter who is just as comfortable working independently on a solo diagnostic call as they are collaborating with a larger crew to get the job done. They will be responsible for the overall installation, maintenance, inspection, and repair of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems across our commercial property.

Key Attributes of Our Ideal Candidate:

  • Self-Directed Initiative: You don't just wait for a work order to tell you what's wrong. You have the professional curiosity to seek out underlying issues, identify potential points of failure before they occur, and take ownership of the resolution process.
  • Versatile Team Player: You possess the autonomy to manage your own daily schedule and troubleshoot in the field without constant supervision, yet you value the power of a team. You communicate clearly with dispatch, parts coordinators, and fellow technicians to ensure every job is completed to the highest standard.
  • Problem-Solving Professional: You view complex system malfunctions as a challenge rather than a chore. You are proficient in diagnosing mechanical and electrical failures and are committed to providing long-term solutions rather than temporary "band-aid" fixes.
  • Reliability & Integrity: You take pride in your craftsmanship, show up on time, and represent the company with professionalism when interacting with clients in their homes or businesses.
  • This role requires high-level troubleshooting abilities and strict adherence to all safety regulations and environmental codes.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Perform scheduled preventive maintenance (PM) on all HVAC equipment, including but not limited to cleaning coils, replacing filters, lubricating parts, and checking fluid levels.
  • Diagnose complex mechanical and electrical faults using specialized testing equipment (e.g., multimeters, leak detectors).
  • Execute timely and efficient repair of faulty components such as compressors, motors, thermostats, humidifiers, and pneumatic controls.
  • Conduct refrigerant recovery, recycling, and charging procedures in compliance with EPA regulations (Section 608).
  • Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals for system layout and wiring.
  • Test newly installed or repaired systems to ensure optimal performance, efficiency, and compliance.
  • Perform brazing, soldering, and pipefitting as needed for system installation and repair.
  • Maintain accurate and detailed records of all maintenance work, repairs performed, and parts used within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and facilities managers regarding repair status, necessary parts orders, and potential system issues.
  • Adhere strictly to all company safety policies, including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Manage and organize service vehicles, inventory, and tools efficiently.
  • Help other team members in performing tasks that may not be specific to HVAC.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of documented experience as an HVAC Service Technician, preferably in a commercial or industrial environment.
  • Certification: EPA Section 608 Universal Certification (Type I, II, and III).
  • License: Valid state-issued Driver's License.
  • Technical Skills: Proven expertise in electrical troubleshooting (up to 480V), humidity control, and commercial boiler/chiller systems.
  • High school diploma.
  • Strong customer service orientation required.
  • Must be able to work effectively with peers, staff members, and regulatory agency personnel.
  • Strong computer skills to include effective working knowledge of Microsoft Office Products.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required.
  • Ability to solve problems and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • Occupational or Technical School Certification in HVAC Technology.
  • Experience with Building Automation Systems (BAS) and digital controls (e.g., Trane, Johnson Controls, Siemens, Honeywell) preferred.
  • Proficiency with mobile maintenance applications (CMMS/Work Order Systems) preferred.
