This is a temporary contract assignment. If you meet the qualifications listed below and are interested, please Apply Now!Position Title: Equipment Operator (Journeyman)Location: Riverside, CA 92503Duration: Up to 6 monthsWork Schedule:Candidates will operate equipment ranging from standard vehicles and multiple axle trucks and trailers to varied types of heavy equipment such as excavators, bulldozers, backhoes, loaders, tractors, dump trucks, water trucks, tanker trucks, and cranes used in the construction, improvement and repair aspects of Metropolitan's large-scale water treatment, distribution, and hydroelectric systems. Candidate skills include the proper and safe use, transportation, and minor maintenance of varied equipment, as well as advanced knowledge of construction techniques associated with heavy equipment used in conjunction with a variety of water, hydroelectric and supporting infrastructure improvement such as maintenance and corrective repair projects. Assist in general patrol road maintenance activities including operating dump trucks, water trucks, and vacuum trucks. Assist with loading of materials, general labor activities, and vehicle maintenance.Responsibilities for this position include, but are not limited to: Performs general and advanced equipment operator tasks to effectively build, maintain, and improve a variety of Metropolitan's assets, appurtenances, structures and roadways that support the operational core of water and power reliability by meeting or exceeding internal and external customer expectations through advanced equipment operations.Performs general and advanced equipment operation as well as related tasks to accomplish Preventive Maintenance (PMs), Corrective Maintenance (CMs), and improvements related to the rebuilding, repair and maintenance of water conveyance systems, treatment and hydroelectric plants to support operational reliability and system capacity.Performs roadway maintenance such as preparation work, mixing, laying and placing asphalt and concrete. Maintaining and repairing patrol, powerline, and other rights-of-way to ensure access to pipelines, aqueducts, powerlines and communication sites.Performs and/or assists with major improvements, shutdowns, or other CM and PM activities on a variety of construction related projects that ensure asset/equipment life, water and hydroelectric uptime and reliability.Performs erosion control of drain ways through construction, maintenance and repair of V-dykes, culverts, and bridges to maintain rights-of-way for effective access.Recognizes and avoids harming endangered species, and other protected vegetation, as well as weed abatement in compliance with Federal, State and local regulations.Operates light and heavy motorized equipment with constant attention to safety in order to prevent accidents and injuries at worksites.Assists with injection of sodium hypo chloride, sodium bisulfate and copper sulfate into aqueducts and reservoirs to control algae.Performs general preventive and corrective maintenance on light and heavy equipment in both shop and field environments to maintain equipment in proper and safe working order.Effectively operates varied power-driven equipment such as jackhammers, tampers, or other similarly sized equipment.In accordance with district required training safely and effectively transports hazardous materials including transformer and asphalt oil, diesel fuel, gasoline, treatment process byproducts, batteries, tires and propane.Operates heavy equipment such as semi-tractor trailers, cranes, graders, loaders, low bed and drop deck trailers, dump trucks of varied capacities (10 yards or higher) in accordance with traffic laws and regulations upon public and private rights-of-way.Operates off highway equipment such as cranes, graders, loaders, bulldozers, rollers, compactors, excavators, vacuum-trucks, and asphalt distributing trucks and similar equipment safely and effectively.Performs general and advanced equipment operation on construction sites, treatment plants, conveyance and distribution facilities including hydroelectric plants with constant attention to safety as well as economy of operation, including cranes and rigging of various size and capacities.Utilizing related tools and equipment assists in the layout and construction of concrete forms and placement of reinforcing steel, concrete placement and finishing.To be considered for this position, you should have: [ Skills, Education, or Experience]A minimum of 3 years' experience as an equipment operator is required. Must operate Heavy Equip (Dump Truck/Water Truck) with constant attention to safety of equipment operation in the maintenance and repair of a wide variety of water utility assets, assemblies, and water related equipment such as large gates, valves, pipelines, structures vaults, drain covers, and similar equipment.Assist in general patrol road maintenance activities including operating dump trucks, water trucks, and vacuum trucks. Assist with loading of materials, general labour activities, and vehicle maintenance. Complete the DVR maintenance checklist as required. Assist client staff with other related duties.Only candidates with experience and knowledge in the practices, procedures, methods of light and heavy equipment operation and transportation are welcome .High school diploma or GEDMinimum of 3 years' experience as an equipment operator.May be required to obtain a valid Drivers license from state of residency equivalent to a California Class A or B with appropriate commercial license endorsements.OSHARequired Knowledge of: Employees in this title are at the skilled-level and utilize and advance skills through classroom and on-the-job training or they are obtaining the necessary experience working with journey-level Operators to competently demonstrate: The safe practices, tools and techniques related to the operation of light and heavy equipment and associated construction methods for the repair and improvement of water distribution, treatment and hydroelectric assets and equipment, ability to understand, read and interpret blueprints, schematics and drawings of assets, equipment, and parts necessary to effectively operate equipment, perform minor repairs on light and heavy equipment and/or component parts, inspecting a construction site in preparation for equipment operation to ensure adequate clearances such as underground service alerts, safety aspects, and to communicate any potential unsafe situations to other employees and supervisors, Federal, State and local codes and other regulations for all phases of handling and transportation of hazardous materials, as well as pertinent regulations pertaining to the Endangered Species Act and similar regulations, and experience of the working characteristics of varied light and heavy equipment necessary to safely and effectively operate equipment in varied operating situations, and safety practices and regulations for operating mechanical and electrical equipment.Required Skills and Abilities to: Interpret complex instructions, manuals, operating and maintenance procedures and specifications related to light and heavy equipment and related construction activities, and apply and guide others in adhering to safety practices and regulations for operating light and heavy construction equipment.Tryfacta is an Equal Opportunity-Affirmative Action Employer.
