Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled and dependable Crane Operator and Material Handler to join our construction and logistics team. This role involves operating various types of heavy equipment, including cranes, forklifts, boom trucks, backhoes, and excavators, to efficiently move, load, and unload materials on construction sites and in warehouse environments. The successful candidate will ensure safe handling of materials, proper rigging procedures, and adherence to safety standards. This position offers an opportunity to contribute to large-scale projects while maintaining a focus on safety, precision, and operational excellence.
Duties
- Operate cranes and heavy equipment such as backhoes, excavators, forklifts, and boom trucks to lift, move, and position materials accurately on construction sites or within warehouse facilities.
- Perform rigging tasks to secure loads safely before lifting or moving materials.
- Handle materials with care, ensuring proper storage, shipping, and receiving procedures are followed.
- Assist with loading and unloading trucks in shipping & receiving operations.
- Conduct routine inspections of equipment to ensure safety standards are maintained; report any malfunctions or hazards promptly.
- Collaborate with team members to coordinate material movement efficiently while adhering to project timelines.
- Maintain accurate records of material handling activities and equipment usage.
- Follow all safety protocols and construction site regulations to prevent accidents or injuries.
Qualifications
- Proven experience operating cranes and heavy machinery such as forklifts, backhoes, excavators, and boom trucks within construction or warehouse environments.
- Mechanical knowledge related to heavy equipment operation and maintenance.
- Valid commercial driver’s license with experience in commercial driving preferred.
- Skilled in rigging techniques for safe lifting operations.
- Strong understanding of materials handling procedures including shipping & receiving processes.
- Prior construction site experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to operate a variety of heavy equipment safely and efficiently.
- Knowledge of safety standards related to crane operation and construction activities.
- Physical ability to lift heavy loads and perform manual tasks as needed.
- Excellent communication skills for teamwork and safety coordination.
