Role Overview
The HR Generalist serves as a key tactical and administrative partner, supporting day-to-day human resources operations across the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for benefits administration and leave management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states. The HR Generalist supports onboarding and offboarding, employee records management, policy administration, and routine employee relations matters, while providing consistent, responsive support to leaders and employees. Operating with a high level of discretion and attention to detail, the HR Generalist helps ensure accurate execution of HR processes, promotes positive employee experience, and supports organizational compliance and operational effectiveness.
Further, the HR Generalist will supervise the Payroll & Benefits Specialist and Talent Acquisition team (2) with accountability for seamless execution of functional responsibilities, ensuring efficient process flows and successfully achieving success metrics.

Role Overview
The HR Generalist serves as a key tactical and administrative partner, supporting day-to-day human resources operations across the employee lifecycle. This role is responsible for benefits administration and leave management, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws across multiple states. The HR Generalist supports onboarding and offboarding, employee records management, policy administration, and routine employee relations matters, while providing consistent, responsive support to leaders and employees. Operating with a high level of discretion and attention to detail, the HR Generalist helps ensure accurate execution of HR processes, promotes positive employee experience, and supports organizational compliance and operational effectiveness.
Further, the HR Generalist will supervise the Payroll & Benefits Specialist and Talent Acquisition team (2) with accountability for seamless execution of functional responsibilities, ensuring efficient process flows and successfully achieving success metrics.
Major Functions
- Management of HR function including payroll, benefits, talent acquisition, compliance; supervisory responsibility for HR team (three direct reports)
- Provides guidance to managers on employee performance issues; investigates all employee complaints and makes employment recommendations as appropriate.
- Inputs all employee transactions in Paycor accurately and timely (i.e. pay changes, job changes, terminations, leave of absence, etc.); responsible for all Paycor reporting requests
- Facilitates new employee benefit eligibility; conducting benefits orientation and confirms enrollment elections are made within required timelines; respond to all employee benefit questions
- Responds to unemployment claims and attends hearings; responds to and manages all worker’s comp claims; administers all leave of absence requests, advise on eligibility, responds to all STD/FAMLI requests
- Serve as a primary point of contact for managers on employee issues, supporting performance management and disciplinary processes, including investigating and resolving workplace issues and conflicts
- Administer employee benefits programs, including enrollments, changes, terminations, and vendor coordination
- Oversee all employee leave management (FMLA, state-specific leave, PTO, ADA accommodations), ensuring federal and state compliance and accurate tracking
- Stays abreast of and ensures compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, recommends policy and process changes as appropriate
- Inputs all employee transactions in Paycor accurately and timely (i.e. pay changes, job changes, terminations, leave of absence, etc.); ensures accurate employee records and personnel files
- Assist in developing, implementing, and maintaining HR policies, procedures, and Employee Handbooks
- Generate HR reports and track workforce metrics
- Responds to unemployment claims and attends hearings as needed
- Responds to and manages all worker’s comp claims
- Provides oversight for Talent Acquisition function ensuring recruiters are supported and achieving key metrics
- Provides oversight for Payroll ensuring accurate processing and tax compliance; point of contact for all escalations
- Partner with leadership and managers to support workforce planning, employee engagement, and organizational initiatives
- Support HR projects and day-to-day operations to ensure efficient, consistent HR service delivery
- Supports organizational initiatives and change management
- Support audits, surveys, and regulatory reviews; prepare documentation and corrective action plans as needed
- Bachelor’s degree in HR, Business, or related field
- HR certification (PHR, SHRM-CP) preferred
- 5-7 years progressive experience as an HR Generalist supporting multiple areas of HR, including recruiting, onboarding, employee relations, payroll, benefits administration, leave management, and offboarding in multi-state environments
- 1-2 years supervisory experience
- Ideal candidate will have experience working in healthcare or healthcare-adjacent industries (i.e. home health care, senior living, etc.)
- Working knowledge of federal and state employment laws, including FLSA, FMLA, ADA, Title VII, COBRA, etc.
- Experience supporting multi‑state HR compliance, including wage & hour laws and state‑specific paid leave requirements
- Proven ability to manage end‑to‑end leave administration, including FMLA, state paid leave programs, ADA accommodations, and military leave
- Hands‑on experience administering employee benefits programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and retirement plans
- Strong administrative and documentation skills with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Proficiency with HRIS and payroll systems; Paycor experience preferred
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and apply sound judgment when handling sensitive employee matters
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain HR policies and procedures
- Excellent organizational and time‑management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing deadlines
- Familiarity with structured operating systems (e.g., EOS) preferred
