Job Summary
We are seeking a Safety Manager to lead and elevate the safety, health, and environmental performance of our manufacturing and warehouse operations. This role goes beyond regulatory compliance — it is a strategic leadership position responsible for shaping a proactive, people-centered, and data-driven safety culture.
The Safety Manager will ensure all local, state, and federal regulations (including OSHA and EPA) are fully met, while also advancing innovative practices that promote employee well-being, reduce risk, and improve operational excellence.
This individual will partner across departments — from production and maintenance to HR and leadership — to integrate safety into every layer of our business. They will leverage technology and behavioral safety principles to ensure that safety is not just a set of rules, but a core part of who we are and how we work.
Key Responsibilities
Essential Job Duties
- Ensure compliance with all regulatory requirements, including OSHA, EPA, and other applicable standards.
- Lead risk assessments, safety audits, and root cause analyses; develop corrective and preventive actions and maintain all safety files and records.
- Design, deliver, and oversee engaging safety training programs, including the use of digital tools (e.g., EHS software, VR).
- Develop and monitor key safety performance indicators (KPIs); use data and analytics to drive continuous improvement.
- Champion behavioral safety programs and promote a culture of accountability and care.
- Collaborate with HR on employee well-being, mental health, and psychological safety initiatives.
- Lead or support environmental programs including waste management, sustainability, and ESG-related reporting.
- Act as a cross-functional partner with operations, engineering, maintenance, and leadership to integrate safety into decision-making.
- Prepare and deliver safety reports, dashboards, and updates to plant and company leadership.
- Establish, maintain and implement safety policies and procedures to promote a healthy, safe work environment in compliance with local, state, and federal rules and regulations including Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) and Department of Transportation (DOT).
- Advise Chief Operating Officer and Vice President Human Resources on safety compliance concerns and preventive actions.
- Monitor and track the Safety Metrics and communicate with the Chief Operating Officer and Director of Human Resources.
- Work with Supervisors and Managers to identify, address, and eliminate all safety related concerns and hazards.
- Perform safety surveys and inspections, prepare written reports of findings and recommendations for corrective or preventive measures where indicated and follow up to ensure measures have been implemented.
- Conduct and/or supersede post-accident investigations and prepare reports identifying possible accident causes and hazards for use by company personnel.
- Facilitate the Safety Committee.

Scope of Responsibility
- Oversees safety performance across the manufacturing plant and warehouses (~130 employees).
- Works closely with all levels of the organization, from frontline employees to executives.
- Manages or coordinates with contractors, vendors, and third-party providers on safety-related matters.
- Maintains responsibility for ensuring readiness for external audits and regulatory inspections.
- Contributes company-wide safety initiatives and aligns plant-level activities with corporate ESG goals.

- This job will have periodic access to confidential data including financial statements, company records and/or minutes, and company plans, designs, and/or programs.

- Strong knowledge of OSHA regulations, EPA standards, and general EHS compliance requirements.
- Proficiency in EHS software, data analysis, and use of safety-related technologies (e.g., IoT, smart PPE, VR, wearables).
- Understanding behavioral safety principles, human factors, and systems-based safety improvement.
- Familiarity with ESG frameworks and how safety performance contributes to corporate social responsibility.
- Excellent communication and training skills, including the ability to engage diverse teams.
- Strong leadership, influence, and change management capabilities.
- Ability to conduct investigations, analyze data, and translate findings into action.
- Commitment to continuous improvement and innovation.
- Bachelor's degree in safety, Environmental Science, Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field (required).
- 5–10 years of safety management experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
- Professional certifications (preferred but not required): CSP (Certified Safety Professional), CIH (Certified Industrial Hygienist), CHMM (Certified Hazardous Materials Manager), or equivalent.
- Experience with behavioral safety programs, safety analytics, or ESG reporting is a strong plus.
- Must have strong knowledge of OSHA standards and regulations, as well as workplace safety laws and guidelines.
- OSHA certified highly desired.
Physical Demands
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit; use hands to feel; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear, climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee is occasionally required to stand and walk.
- Work is performed in a comfortable office environment, and disruptions occur frequently. The noise level in the warehouse/work environment is usually moderate.
- The employee may be required to travel up to 35% of the time.
