Our client is an organization in the Madison area looking for a Payroll Lead. Our client is looking for someone with strong payroll expertise, excellent organizational skills, and the ability to support payroll, HR, and accounting functions in a collaborative environment. This individual will oversee the organization's in-house payroll processes while serving as a key resource for payroll administration, benefits, and HR support.
The Payroll Lead will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Process accurate and timely multi-state payroll entirely in-house, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Manage weekly payroll and bi-weekly payroll.
- Administer payroll-related activities including employee deductions, garnishments, tax withholdings, direct deposits, and payroll adjustments.
- Manage payroll uploads, banking files, and payroll reconciliations while ensuring data integrity.
- Administer employee benefits, process benefit enrollment changes, and maintain benefits-related documentation.
- Provide HR administrative support, including onboarding, employee record maintenance, and policy administration.
- Utilize Paylocity for onboarding, HRIS administration, and payroll processing.
- Work within the ERP system to support payroll, reporting, and cross-functional accounting activities.
- Partner with Accounting and Human Resources to ensure accurate reporting, compliance, and efficient payroll operations.
- Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
- Identify opportunities to improve payroll processes, reporting, and system efficiencies.
- Support additional accounting, finance, and administrative responsibilities as business needs evolve.
The Payroll Lead will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- 5 years of payroll experience.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field preferred.
- Experience processing multi-state payroll required; union payroll experience is a plus.
- Experience administering employee benefits and supporting HR functions preferred.
- Experience with Paylocity and/or similar payroll and HRIS systems preferred.
- Experience working within an ERP system.
- Strong understanding of payroll regulations, tax compliance, and payroll best practices.
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to collaborate across departments.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt to evolving responsibilities in a fast-paced environment.
