Senior Accountant (42991)
Our client is an organization in Washington County looking for a Senior Accountant. Our client is looking for someone with strong general accounting experience, excellent analytical skills, and the ability to take ownership of accounting activities within a plant environment. This individual will support both traditional accounting and operational finance responsibilities while partnering with plant leadership to understand and improve financial performance.
The salary range for this position is $80k–110k.
The Senior Accountant will be responsible for, but not limited to, the following:
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manage day-to-day accounting activities for the plant, ensuring financial transactions are recorded accurately and timely.
- Take ownership of key components of the monthly close process, including journal entries, accruals, and account reconciliations.
- Prepare and analyze balance sheet reconciliations while researching and resolving discrepancies.
- Support product costing and inventory accounting activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze manufacturing costs, operational expenses, and financial variances to identify trends and areas requiring further review.
- Partner with plant and operational leadership to provide financial information and support business decision-making.
- Assist with the annual budgeting process and ongoing forecasting activities.
- Monitor actual financial performance against budgets and forecasts and provide meaningful variance analysis.
- Maintain accurate general ledger records and supporting financial schedules.
- Assist with inventory reporting, cycle counts, and other plant accounting activities as needed.
- Prepare recurring and ad hoc financial reports for accounting, finance, and operational leadership.
- Support internal and external audit requests and maintain appropriate accounting documentation.
- Ensure accounting activities comply with company policies, internal controls, and applicable accounting standards.
- Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes, reporting, and operational efficiencies.
- Support additional plant finance and accounting projects as business needs evolve.
The Senior Accountant will possess the following:
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
- 2 years of progressive accounting experience required.
- Manufacturing, distribution, cost accounting, or other operations-focused accounting experience strongly preferred.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Exposure to product costing, inventory accounting, budgeting, or forecasting preferred.
- Strong general ledger and financial reporting knowledge.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and experience working with ERP or accounting systems.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to understand the operational drivers behind financial results.
- Excellent attention to detail with the ability to independently manage accounting responsibilities and deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to partner effectively with accounting and operational teams.
- Self-motivated and proactive with a willingness to take ownership of a broad range of plant accounting responsibilities.
