truFP | Cumming, GA
truFP is an independent, fee-only financial planning firm located in Cumming, Georgia. We are a team of fiduciary financial planners who uphold a high standard of service and financial expertise, serving families and small business owners in North Georgia and throughout the country with comprehensive financial planning.
At truFP, we are proud of our client-first approach and do not engage in cold calling or high-volume sales tactics. Our firm is the exclusive financial planning partner for Forsyth County government and its 1,700 employees. Our lead planner, Ken Bellavance, is also a Dave Ramsey SmartVestor Pro.
We are seeking an Internal Financial Planner to join our growing team. This is a technical, high-impact role designed for a professional with a solid foundation in financial planning who is looking to deepen their expertise without the immediate pressure of business development.
As an Internal Financial Planner, you will be the "engine" behind our client recommendations. You will work directly with our lead advisors to construct complex financial plans, manage investment implementation, and ensure our clients receive a sophisticated, holistic experience. This position offers a clear trajectory toward a Lead Financial Planner role for the right candidate.

- Plan Implementation: Partner with lead advisors to translate client goals into actionable recommendations and see those actions through to completion.
- Investment Strategy: Execute trades, monitor portfolios for rebalancing, and ensure client allocations remain aligned with their stated risk tolerance and financial goals.
- Client Relationship Management: Serve as a technical point of contact for clients, providing clear answers to complex financial questions and preparing high-level review reports.
- Professional Coordination: Act as a liaison between the firm and our clients' other professional partners (CPAs, Attorneys, etc.) to ensure a cohesive financial strategy.
- Compliance & Excellence: Maintain meticulous records within our CRM and ensure all planning activities meet the highest fiduciary and regulatory standards.
Required
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Financial Planning, or a related field.
- Experience: 3 years of direct experience within a financial planning or wealth management firm.
- Licensing: Series 65 License (must be active or obtained within 30 days of hire).
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of financial planning software (e.g., eMoney, MoneyGuidePro, etc.) and Microsoft Excel.
- Communication: Exceptional ability to distill complex financial concepts into clear, "human" language.
Highly Valued
- CFP® Designation: Already obtained or actively pursuing (candidate status).
- Advanced Knowledge: Prior experience with tax planning, Social Security optimization, or small business retirement plans.
- Growth Mindset: A desire to eventually transition into a Lead Advisor role with your own client base.
The starting salary for this position is $65,000 – $85,000, based on experience, education, and fit. This is a salaried, professional position, not a commission-based sales role. We offer substantial compensation incentives based on length of service, quality of client service, and firm profitability.
What's in it for you:
- 401(k): 3% company match.
- Comprehensive Insurance: Long-Term Disability Insurance, Life Insurance, and a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA).
- Time Off: Paid time off, including three weeks of vacation plus sick leave (2 weeks in the first year).
- Family First: Paid parental leave for all new parents.
- Success Support: Access to state-of-the-art technology and continuing education support for professional designations.
