What are the responsibilities and job description for the Production Estimator position at Trueline?
Trueline’s client, a growing specialty metal manufacturing company based in Conway, is seeking a Production Estimator to join their team. This role will lead the quoting, routing, and pricing of customer orders to safeguard margins and support company growth in a precision manufacturing environment.
What You’ll Do as the Production Estimator:
Interact directly with customers and prospects, delivering professional, responsive service and seizing cross sell/up sell opportunities
Develop detailed manufacturing plans (routing) and cost estimates using provided software: identify material, labor, and delivery time requirements
Produce worksheets showing expected margin and submit for approval when profit percentage falls below minimum threshold
Ensure pricing supports achievable delivery dates; meet quote due dates and alert leadership if risk arises
Review blueprints/prints and collaborate with engineering/production to identify inconsistencies or points needing customer resolution
Participate in sales/estimating team meetings: share status of quotes (wins/losses), propose process improvements, and gather lessons learned
Assist leadership/production in analyzing discrepancies between estimated and actual costs, driving margin improvement initiatives
Operate as a part of a cohesive team supporting the company’s goals in growth and profitability
Must Haves as the Production Estimator:
Proficient in reading and interpreting manufacturing blueprints or engineering drawings
At least 1 year of experience in a metal manufacturing or fabrication environment
Skilled with MS Word, MS Excel (intermediate), Outlook; ability to learn new software programs quickly
Experience working with manufacturing ERP systems
Strong customer service mindset, professional phone presence, excellent verbal/written communication
Nice to Haves as the Production Estimator:
Customer facing sales or inside sales experience (quoting, upselling, service)
Familiarity with metal fabrication processes (e.g., cutting, welding, forming)
Previous experience generating cost/margin worksheets or routing plans
Prior exposure to estimating software tools specific to manufacturing
