Trueline's client, a respected design-build and construction firm in the Madison, Wisconsin area, is seeking an Estimator to join their growing team. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a detailed, process-driven environment and enjoys collaborating across projects while helping deliver high-quality residential and commercial construction work.
What You'll Do as the Estimator:
- Prepare detailed and accurate estimates for construction and remodeling projects
- Review plans, specifications, scopes, and subcontractor proposals
- Manage multiple active bids and project timelines simultaneously
- Coordinate with vendors, trade partners, project managers, and internal stakeholders
- Build and maintain pricing spreadsheets, bid documentation, and project records
- Assist with scope development, budgeting, and proposal preparation
- Participate in project walkthroughs and preconstruction meetings as needed
- Maintain organized estimating files and ensure timely follow-up throughout the bid process
- Use established SOPs, templates, and workflows to improve consistency and accuracy
- Support operational handoff and project startup activities when projects are awarded
Must-Haves as the Estimator:
- Minimum 2 years of estimating experience within construction
- Background in construction estimating for commercial and/or residential projects
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multitask across multiple projects
- High attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong Excel and computer proficiency
- Professional communication and office presence
- Ability to work in a structured, process-oriented environment
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to pass a drug screen and background check
- Must live within approximately 30 minutes of the office
Nice-to-Haves as the Estimator:
- Residential construction or remodeling experience
- Experience transitioning from project management into estimating
- Familiarity with AI tools or workflow automation platforms
- Experience in design-build environments
- Strong understanding of subcontractor coordination and scopes
