Experienced Diesel Fleet Mechanic

Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Mechanic to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical repair and maintenance, with the ability to diagnose and resolve issues efficiently. As a Mechanic, you will be responsible for ensuring that all equipment and machinery are in optimal working condition, contributing to the overall productivity of our operations.

Requirements:

• Experience with concrete mixers, rock haulers and tankers a must (bonus if you have front end loader and skid steer experience)
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Vocational or Technical Certification Post Secondary degree or Technical Certifications, preferred
• Basic tools, required
• Demonstrated aptitude and applied experience in mechanical repair of automotive gas or diesel engines including:
• Routine preventative maintenance, which should include oil changes, brake and tire work, required
• Two (2) years or more of a combination of classroom training and work experience in required experience, preferred
• Valid Driver License Required

Responsibilities:

• Performs vehicle maintenance and repair duties
• Performs standard vehicle maintenance
• Performs standard component inspections and repairs
• Performs preventive maintenance
• Diagnoses mechanical and electronic problems, utilizing diagnostic computer when applicable
• Identifies root cause of basic failures/conditions and perform repairs as required
• Replaces defective components as instructed
• Performs facility maintenance duties
• Interacts with drivers to properly determine nature of complaint once assigned a task
• Be able to utilize computer to document workorders
• Works in accordance with all federal/ provincial and corporate compliance guidelines (i.e., safety, DOT, MOT)
• Performs other support duties as required to support operations. These could include but are not limited to Service Island support
• Perform preventative maintenance on all fleet vehicles as well as plant equipment
• Perform service calls when needed and be able to get our drivers/trucks back to the plant safely
• Keep workspace and or shop neat safe and clean

Skills

• Strong problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
• Excellent communication skills to effectively convey technical information.
• Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in mechanical repair.
• Previous experience in a mechanic role is preferred but not mandatory.

Pay: $30.00 - $35.00 per hour
