What are the responsibilities and job description for the General Manager for Car Dealership position at Truck Traders?
Truck Traders is a growing independent used truck dealership in Kyle, TX. We specialize in late-model pickup trucks and operate on a 10-acre property with over 1,000 feet of highway frontage in one of the fastest growing corridors in central Texas. We are expanding and looking for a proven operator to take full ownership of store performance.
The Opportunity This is not a role for someone who needs to be managed. You will have full autonomy over every lever that drives store performance — inventory buying, pricing, reconditioning, deal structure, lender relationships, and sales staff development. If you know how to run a used truck operation and want to be paid aggressively for what you produce, this is the role for you.
What You'll Be Responsible For
- Sourcing and purchasing inventory at auction — you are the primary buyer
- Setting retail pricing and approving reconditioning on all units
- Structuring retail, subprime, and BHPH deals from start to finish
- Managing and growing a commissioned sales floor (5 salespeople)
- Driving the store to 40 units per month at strong average gross per copy
- Managing lender relationships including Westlake Financial and others
- Running daily team meetings and weekly inventory advertising meetings
- Overseeing all operations through DealerCenter DMS and CRM
- Recruiting, hiring, and developing salespeople as needed
What We're Looking For
- Proven track record managing an independent used car or truck dealership
- Strong auction buying experience with a verifiable performance history
- Proficiency structuring subprime deals through Westlake, UAC, and similar lenders
- Experience managing and motivating a commission-based sales team
- DealerCenter experience preferred
- Self-directed and comfortable operating without daily oversight
- Texas independent dealer experience strongly preferred
- Truck/pickup market knowledge is a significant plus
Compensation Performance-based with no ceiling. Pay is structured around units retailed and total store gross, with additional bonuses tied to measurable performance metrics.
