What are the responsibilities and job description for the Fleet Mechanic position at Truck Mechanic Shop?
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: - Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
- Inspect commercial trucks, trailers, and heavy-duty equipment for mechanical, electrical, and safety-related issues.
- Diagnose and troubleshoot electrical, air, fuel, cooling, and exhaust system problems.
- Perform preventive maintenance (PM) services, inspections, and routine maintenance on trucks and trailers.
- Perform engine oil and filter changes, lubrication, fluid checks, and other scheduled maintenance.
- Inspect, repair, and replace brake components, including brake shoes, drums, chambers, slack adjusters, S-cams, and related components.
- Perform brake adjustments and DOT-related inspections.
- Inspect, repair, and replace wheel seals, hubs, bearings, and related wheel-end components.
- Inspect, repair, and replace suspension components, including air bags, shocks, bushings, and related parts.
- Diagnose and replace starting and charging systems, including batteries, alternators, starters, and electrical components.
- Inspect, charge, test, and replace batteries as needed.
- Diagnose and repair lighting, wiring, electrical, and trailer electrical systems.
- Inspect, repair, and replace cooling system components, including radiators, hoses, thermostats, water pumps, and related parts.
- Perform clutch adjustments and other clutch-related repairs.
- Perform trailer repairs, including landing gear, doors, lights, air systems, brakes, suspension, and other trailer components.
- Operate hand tools, power tools, air tools, diagnostic equipment, jacks, lifts, and other shop equipment safely.
- Perform welding, fabrication, and minor repairs when necessary.
- Inspect vehicles after repairs to ensure proper operation and safe working condition.
- Road-test vehicles when necessary to verify repairs and diagnose issues.
- Maintain accurate records of labor, repairs, time, materials, parts, and services performed.
- Identify parts and materials needed for repairs and communicate parts requirements to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
- Follow company safety procedures and applicable DOT requirements.
- Complete repairs efficiently while maintaining high-quality workmanship.
- Assist with fleet maintenance and help keep customer and company vehicles in safe operating condition.
- Communicate repair findings and recommendations to management or customers in a professional manner.
- Perform related duties as assigned.
- Ability to work independently and troubleshoot problems with minimal supervision.
- Ability to prioritize multiple repair jobs and meet reasonable turnaround times.

Pay: $22.00 - $28.00 per hour
