About the Company
Our client a leading, publically traded, specialty insurance firm is seeking a production‑focused Program Underwriter to support and grow a high‑demand Miscellaneous Contractors multiline program. This role is ideal for an underwriter who enjoys broker engagement, fast‑moving submissions, and driving new business while maintaining a profitable renewal book.
About the Role
The Program Underwriter will underwrite both new business and renewals, evaluate risk quality, and build strong broker relationships to support program growth. This is a hybrid role based in New York City.
Responsibilities
- Drive new business production through proactive broker engagement
- Underwrite and price submissions within delegated authority
- Manage renewal strategy, retention, and portfolio profitability
- Identify opportunities to expand appetite and improve hit ratios
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships
- Collaborate with internal teams on underwriting strategy and program development.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 years of commercial underwriting experience (contractors or multiline preferred)
- Strong production mindset with proven broker‑facing ability
- Solid analytical and technical rating skills
- Ability to manage a high‑volume submission flow with accuracy and urgency
- Excellent communication and relationship‑building skills
- Bachelor’s degree
