Senior Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Engineer
About the Opportunity
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Senior Hydrology & Hydraulics (H&H) Engineer to join our growing civil engineering team. This leadership-level position offers the opportunity to work on a diverse portfolio of public and private sector projects located throughout Montana, Utah, and Texas.
The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise in hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, drainage design, stormwater management, and floodplain analysis. This individual will play a key role in project delivery, mentoring junior staff, and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality engineering solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead hydrologic and hydraulic analyses for municipal, transportation, land development, and infrastructure projects.
- Prepare and oversee drainage studies, floodplain analyses, watershed assessments, and stormwater management reports.
- Design stormwater conveyance systems, detention and retention facilities, culverts, channels, bridges, and drainage infrastructure.
- Develop and review hydraulic models using HEC-RAS.
- Prepare engineering plans, exhibits, and construction documents using AutoCAD.
- Coordinate with project managers, engineers, surveyors, governmental agencies, and clients.
- Provide technical leadership and quality control for H&H-related deliverables.
- Mentor and support junior engineers and technical staff.
- Assist with project planning, scheduling, budgeting, and client management.
- Support permitting efforts and regulatory compliance requirements associated with drainage and floodplain management.
- Participate in project meetings and presentations with clients and agencies.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in hydrology, hydraulics, drainage design, floodplain analysis, or water resources engineering.
- Demonstrated experience utilizing HEC-RAS for hydraulic modeling and flood studies.
- Strong proficiency with AutoCAD.
- Experience preparing technical reports, engineering calculations, and drainage studies.
- Strong understanding of stormwater management, watershed analysis, and hydraulic engineering principles.
- Proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred, but not required.
- Experience with HEC-HMS, GIS, Civil 3D, SWMM, or other hydrologic and hydraulic modeling software.
- Experience working on projects in Montana, Utah, and/or Texas.
- Previous experience leading projects and mentoring engineering staff.
- Familiarity with local, state, and federal drainage and floodplain regulations.

Salary : $120,000 - $165,000
