Pay: $65,000-$80,000
Reports To: Quality Manager
Job Summary
The Quality Engineer is responsible for overseeing the company’s Corrective Action and Nonconformance programs within an AS9100 Quality Management System. This role supports internal audits, drives continuous improvement initiatives, and provides Quality Assurance support to ensure processes, products, and systems meet established quality standards.
Primary Responsibilities
Corrective Action Program Management (Primary Function)
- Manage the full corrective action process from initiation through closure.
- Assign corrective actions, monitor progress, and ensure timely resolution.
- Collaborate with area leads and process owners to conduct effective root cause analysis and develop corrective/preventive actions.
- Verify completed corrective actions when no conflict of interest exists.
- Prepare, analyze, and maintain reports on corrective action status, trends, and overall effectiveness.
- Identify systemic issues and escalate risks to leadership when appropriate.
Internal Auditing Support
- Serve as a contributing member of the internal audit team.
- Conduct internal audits for assigned areas, excluding those with conflicts of interest.
- Assist in preparing audit reports and communicating audit results across the organization.
- Support follow-up activities and verify completion of audit findings.
- Contribute to the training and development of new internal auditors as needed.
Quality Assurance Activities
- Support the development, maintenance, and continual improvement of AS9100 QMS processes, including FMEAs, work instructions, control plans, and process maps.
- Participate as a Quality representative in continuous improvement initiatives.
- Assist with document control, approvals, and quality-related documentation as required.
- Provide guidance and support to operations teams on quality standards and customer-specific requirements.
Additional Duties
- Perform additional tasks and responsibilities as assigned to support operational and quality objectives.
Qualifications
- College diploma in a technical or engineering field required.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in an AS9100 manufacturing environment; experience with special processes (coating, heat treat, welding) preferred.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Quality Assurance, Quality Engineering, or auditing.
- Auditor training or certification preferred.
- English required; Spanish language skills a plus.
Knowledge & Skills Requirements
- Strong working knowledge of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
- Familiarity with special processes including coating, heat treatment, welding, and spot welding.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to lead teams and generate clear, concise reports.
- Proficient computer skills, including word processing and spreadsheets.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work effectively across departments.
- Self-directed with strong time management and the ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to maintain 20/20 vision; corrective lenses acceptable. Periodic eye examinations provided by the company.
- Ability to lift up to 20 pounds as needed.
