Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a Packaging Mechanic to support our UFO Maintenance team. This role will be responsible for performing quality checks to ensure proper packaging, coding, products and other materials are correctly used in the production run, and performing equipment Center-lining & clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) to ensure that all equipment is running at peak performance and to quality standards.

Tropicana Brands Group is looking for a Packaging Mechanic to support our UFO Maintenance team. This role will be responsible for performing quality checks to ensure proper packaging, coding, products and other materials are correctly used in the production run, and performing equipment Center-lining & clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) to ensure that all equipment is running at peak performance and to quality standards.
Additional responsibilities will include:
- Safely operate and maintain all packaging equipment to meet production schedules
- Ensure quality standards are met
- Perform quality checks to ensure proper packaging, coding, products and other materials are correctly used in the production run
- Perform equipment Center-lining & clean, Inspect and Lubricate (CIL) to ensure that all equipment is running at peak performance and to quality standards
- Perform and track rapid changeover to ensure that the next product is started on time and is correct
- Initiative is proactive, does more than required, volunteers to help others
- Effectively troubleshoot complete system, including equipment and components
- Must be able to track and maintain material counts and troubleshoot variances
- Must be able to use predictive maintenance tools to implement and exercise needed improvements
- When equipment problems occur, it is the responsibility of each employee to assist in getting the problem corrected quickly and on time (flow to the work) – above and beyond without having to be asked
- Must be willing to work off of your regular shift to provide technical support and training for the team
- Job will require overtime, which could include more than 40 hours per week, 7 days a week and up to 12-hour days
- Will be required to learn and use multi-computer skills which are paramount to the team’s success
- Must be able to develop detailed training, SOPs, and certifications, revise training manuals and determine training requirements
- Must be willing to help the area Planner Scheduler deliver and document maintenance work correctly & on time
- Other duties may be assigned as deemed necessary by supervisory, management and union representatives
- Must be a high school graduate or hold a GED
- Ability to operate complex machinery in the achievement of production goals
- Ability to execute and manage a production plan
- Contribute to the creation and maintenance of a team environment
- Ability to troubleshoot problems, determine cause and resolve problems with limited assistance
- Ability to understand and comply with quality assurance standards
- Ability to recognize unsafe conditions and make immediate corrective action
- Must be able to work independently and with limited supervision
- Must be able to communicate effectively in English, both orally and in writing
- Must be able to work effectively in a team environment
- Must be able to work with computer software such as SAP, Outlook, Word, Excel, Zarpac and ADC
- Must be proficient and able to train others in classroom and hands on type training (Certify)
- Must be multi-skilled for a variety of tasks and be able to handle daily decision making that effects the team
- Must be able to demonstrate teamwork, share information freely, cooperate with others, listen and encourage others and ask for input from others and acknowledge others skills, experience and contributions
- Must be willing to continuously improve the team’s ability to meet customers’ requirements at the lowest cost
- All duties performed in a safe and acceptable manner as evaluated by the immediate supervisor and with management concurrence.
- All production goals are met, and all products adhere to the standards of TPI and regulatory agencies or are disposed of per standard operating procedures.
- All work activities are performed without accident or injury and in accordance with all codes, standards and practices.
- The position is expected to take appropriate action to ensure he/she is well informed of goals, operating methods, purpose, safety issues, personnel issues, etc. at all times.

- Ensure reliable and safe operation of equipment through troubleshooting and working with maintenance to identify issues
- Must adhere to Proper Protection Equipment (PPE) requirements set forth by the department
- Ensure all safety rules, procedures, policies and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) are followed
- Will stay up to date on all required training.
- Must have at least 3 years of mechanical type experience and documentation to support it and be willing to be skill tested, assessed and certified
- Resume must be submitted to be considered
- Must have good mechanical skills & knowledge of mechanical tools
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals
- Must be located in Bradenton, FL, surrounding area, or willing to relocate for the duration of employment.
- Willingness to be onsite at the manufacturing facility on a full-time basis
- Must be able to perform physical tasks for the duration of the shift, including standing, walking, bending, reaching, and lifting/moving items weighing 50 pounds or more.
