Lamination Operator - Level 1

SUMMARY:  Operates production machinery and serves as an on-line QA to ensure that final products meet high-quality standards. Acts as team lead over production helpers and works efficiently to meet production goals.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: (Other duties may be assigned)
    Sets up machine for each job per production process parameters.
    Organizes and runs jobs in the most efficient manner while ensuring they are completed before the ship date.
    Ensures correct materials are ran per work order bill of materials.
    Performs or supervises the performance of quality checks per specified instructions.
    Provides on the job training to new production helpers and as needed.
    Responsible for the supervision of production helpers and provides instruction and feedback as necessary.
    Records and logs production and inventory data on work orders and within production software.
    Utilizes visual acceptance standards in order to QA in-process orders.
    Notifies the respective parties of quality issues with raw materials or finished goods.
    Makes adjustments to machine while orders are in process to ensure finished material meets and exceeds company standards.
    Responsible for tracking quantities used per each raw material, updating labels accordingly after use and deducting quantities from inventory per order within the production software.
    Calculates and records machine efficiency per order and strives to keep efficiencies above company goals. 
    Responsible for keeping his/her work area clean, safe and organized.
    Ensures that all employees on the line have the proper tools and resources to perform their job.
    Responsible for simple maintenance of machine (regular cleaning, inspections, etc.) and reports anything that needs special attention to the Production Supervisor
    Supports and is part of the team that performs the bi-annual physical inventories.
    Supports the ISO Quality Management system through following and continuously improving the company’s quality goals and objectives.
    Works with Production supervisor to reach production goals and objectives.
    Practices and teaches safe working habits and reports any safety violations or concerns to the Production Supervisor.
    Reports Worker's Comp. incidents to Production Supervisor.
    Bring employee issues and concerns to the attention of the Production Supervisor and/or the Human Resources Manager.
    Responsible for opening and closing of the building as required.
    Perform other related duties and/or special projects as assigned.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
    Ability to do repetitive tasks; detail-oriented; understanding of industry and safety standards
    Must possess strong interpersonal and organizational and supervisory skills as well as the ability to multi-task and work independently or in a team environment.
    Computer proficiency: Basic PC skills and data entry.
    Ability to communicate effectively within all levels of the organization.
    Must be able to remain focused on the daily tasks of the job as specified above in order to maintain overall accuracy, meet daily deadline requirements, and meet overall performance expectations of the job.
    Have comprehensive knowledge of basic quality assurance principles, methods, testing and implementation.
    Excellent project, planning, change and time management capabilities.
    Efficiently communicate both verbally and in written form.
    Possess good judgment and decision making skills
    Understanding of flow manufacturing and Lean Manufacturing principles (Preferred).

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: 
    High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
    Must have 1-3 years of experience as a machine operator or have worked in a manufacturing environment for a minimum of 3 years.
