Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA)

The Geriatric Nursing Assistant (GNA) provides compassionate, hands-on support to assisted living, long-term care, and short-term rehabilitation residents, including individuals with dementia. Reporting directly to a Registered Nurse, the GNA promotes resident comfort, dignity, safety, independence, and quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Provide personal care and assistance with activities of daily living while supporting resident dignity and independence.
• Assist residents with mobility, positioning, and safe transfers.
• Measure and report vital signs according to care protocols.
• Provide compassionate support to residents with dementia.
• Implement fall-prevention practices and maintain a safe environment.
• Monitor residents and promptly report changes in condition to the Registered Nurse.
• Document care and resident observations accurately using the facility-specific care platform.
• Follow infection-control practices and collaborate with the care team.

Preferred Qualifications

• At least one year of experience in geriatric nursing assistance.
• Completion of a geriatric nursing assistant training program.
• Geriatric Nursing Assistant certification.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Experience with activities of daily living care, vital signs measurement, dementia care, fall prevention, electronic care documentation, infection control, observation and reporting, compassionate communication, and team collaboration.
