Job Summary and Qualifications
The OR Materials Coordinator assists with appropriate supply and special order acquisition for Surgical Services. Responsible for ensuring other department users are consulted on types and quantities of supplies needed. Ensures effective communications between Materials Management and Surgical Services. Assists with maintaining statistics and reports for administrative and regulatory purposes to include consignment inventory. Assists with coordination of new product review for SMAT committee. Performs clerical duties within the Surgical Services Department as necessary. Serves as liaison between surgeons, office staff, operating room and ancillary departments. Schedules procedures and preadmission testing for Surgical Services, Heart Center, and Special Procedures; answers phones, relays messages, runs errands; receives and directs customers in a friendly and courteous manner; maintains departmental logs and statistics; performs payroll clerical duties as assigned; checks records for completeness; monitors and reconciles charges as necessary. Enters purchase order requisitions, processes new items for set up in SMART system, and performs daily upkeep of the OR Module. Maintain OR Module dictionaries, coordination of Meditech upgrades, OR module ongoing education as well as attendance at OR analyst meetings and conference calls.
Participates in Performance Improvement activities to assure continuous Quality Improvement. Maintains cultural and diversity awareness when dealing with patients, visitors, co-workers and all other customers. Promotes a supportive, teamwork-oriented environment. Fulfills departmental responsibilities with the long-range plan, mission, vision and values of HorizonWhat qualifications you will need:
- Minimum of one year of prior administrative duties
- Computer literate with word processing skills; basic typing skills; verbal ability in general communication and report preparation knowledge
- Familiarity with composition of business letters, rules of grammar, spelling, and punctuation.
