Job Summary

A fast-growing, entrepreneurial company in the adventure and outdoor lifestyle space is seeking a hands-on, growth-oriented Controller to help build and mature its financial infrastructure. This individual will own the end-to-end accounting function, lead the monthly/quarterly/annual close, strengthen reporting processes, and ensure a strong liquidity structure.

This role is ideal for an Assistant Controller ready for the next step or a Controller who enjoys building scalable processes in a fast-paced, growth-stage environment.

You will work directly with the CEO and collaborate cross-functionally with operations, HR, logistics, supply chain, and vendor teams.

Key Responsibilities

Financial Management & Reporting

• Manage and own monthly, quarterly, and annual close cycles
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, reconciliations, and financial statements
• Manage cash flow planning and liquidity
• Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis
• Strengthen financial controls and GAAP compliance
  
  

Operational & Cross-Functional Support

• Partner with operations on logistics, supply chain, inventory, and vendor management
• Support HR functions: payroll, benefits, and compliance
• Evaluate and implement improvements to processes & workflows
  
  

Systems & Tools

• Lead all accounting functions in QuickBooks
• Identify system improvements as the company scales
  
  

Leadership

• Serve as strategic partner to the CEO
• Bring a builder’s mindset to create structure and scalability
• Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement
  
  

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
• Proven experience as Controller or Assistant Controller
• Experience independently handling:
• Monthly close
• Quarterly close
• Annual close
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and internal financial controls
• Advanced QuickBooks experience (required)
• Experience with cash flow planning & liquidity management
• Experience working cross-functionally with:
• Operations
• Supply chain
• Inventory
• Vendors
• HR (payroll, benefits, compliance)
• Must reside in the Minneapolis, MN area
• Must be a US Citizen
