Facilities Maintenance Technician
Location: Washington, DC with occasional coverage in Lorton, VA
Schedule: Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM (On-call and occasional weekends required)
Pay Rate: $30-36 per hour
Job Summary
We are seeking a skilled Facilities Maintenance Technician to support warehouse operations across multiple sites. This role is responsible for performing preventive, routine, and emergency maintenance to ensure safe and efficient facility operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform maintenance and repairs on HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems
- Inspect and maintain warehouse equipment (racking, dock doors, conveyors, lighting)
- Respond to work orders and resolve issues quickly to minimize downtime
- Maintain refrigeration systems and temperature monitoring logs
- Conduct safety inspections (fire extinguishers, emergency lighting, exit signs)
- Support compliance with OSHA and safety standards
- Assist with preventive maintenance scheduling and documentation
- Coordinate with vendors for specialized maintenance services
- Assist with minor construction, installations, and facility projects
Qualifications
- 3–5 years of maintenance experience in warehouse, industrial, or similar environment
- Experience with HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical systems
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
- Ability to read technical manuals and schematics
- Basic computer skills (CMMS/BMS systems preferred)
- Forklift certification or ability to obtain within 30 days
Preferred
- Trade school certification
- HVAC, plumbing, or facilities certifications
- Knowledge of OSHA and safety compliance standards
