Responsibilities
- Receive and prioritize incoming towing requests via multi-line phone systems and digital platforms, ensuring prompt attention to urgent situations.
- Dispatch tow trucks efficiently using transportation management systems (TMS), GPS tracking, and GIS tools to optimize routes and reduce response times.
- Coordinate with drivers, customers, and third-party logistics (3PL) providers to confirm pickup locations, delivery details, and special instructions.
- Maintain accurate data entry within systems such as Oracle Transportation Management, SyteLine, and AS400 for all dispatch activities.
- Monitor fleet management systems to track vehicle locations using GPS and GIS technologies, adjusting plans as needed for traffic or operational changes.
- Communicate clearly with drivers regarding job details, safety protocols, and customer expectations while demonstrating excellent phone etiquette and communication skills.
- Prepare detailed shift reports, incident logs, and delivery documentation to ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory standards.
Requirements
- Proven experience in dispatching within transportation management or logistics environments; familiarity with freight operations is a plus.
- Strong analysis skills to interpret GPS data, GIS maps, and transportation planning tools for efficient routing.
- Proficiency in transportation management systems such as Oracle Transportation Management or SyteLine; experience with AS400 is advantageous.
- Knowledge of fleet management practices including shipping & receiving procedures and 3PL coordination.
- Excellent communication skills paired with professional phone etiquette to handle customer inquiries effectively.
- Ability to perform data entry accurately while managing multi-line phone systems under pressure.
- Familiarity with supply chain processes, logistics principles, and transportation planning strategies.
