Employment Type: Full time Shift: Day Shift Description: Position Title: Medical Staff Coordinator Job Summary: Independently leads and coordinates the credentialing and privileging functions of the Medical Staff. Maintains confidentiality of all medical staff activities as they relate to peer review, quality improvement and medical legal issues. Job Duties: Organizes the credentialing activities of the Medical Staff and ensures compliance with internal polices and bylaws and external regulations and standards (The Joint Commission (TJC), National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS). Accountable for processing and verification of documents related to medical staff initial applications, reappointment (every 2 years) and ongoing maintenance of the credentials files for current licensure, certification, liability coverage, controlled substance and drug enforcement certification requirements and other documentation. Ensures the credentialing and medical staff processes meets The Joint Commission standards and identifies areas for process improvement. Takes lead role in process improvement activities and in the survey process. Organizes and facilitates the Credentials Committee as well as ensures the Medical Executive Committee and Board are involved in the credentialing process as required by policies and standards. Facilitates communication with the clinical department chairs, credentials committee chair and physician members and hospital leadership team regarding credentialing activities. Hours: Full Time; 40 hours/week Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors Degree required Certification as a Certified Medical Staff Coordinator and/or Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist required after meeting each certification’s specific requirements. Proof of completion of Mandatory Reporter abuse training for child and dependent adult abuse within three (3) months of hire.
