About Trinity Valley School

Founded in 1959 and named for the nearby Trinity River, Trinity Valley School (TVS) is an independent, nonsectarian, college-preparatory school serving more than 1,000 students in PK–12th grades on a 75-acre campus in Fort Worth, Texas.

Rooted in over 60 years of fine scholarship, TVS brings together students who are eager to learn, ready to contribute to a diverse and dynamic community, and inspired to grow as curious, independent thinkers.

Why Families Choose TVS

Families choose TVS for a warm, thoughtfully challenging environment where curiosity grows, students are encouraged to dig deeper, and learning is active, hands-on, and driven by discovery. Guided by our four values, we create a school experience grounded in meaning and purpose. We pursue fine scholarship in and out of the classroom, strengthening skills that serve us everywhere. We develop wide constructive interests, expanding our engagement with the world. We practice intelligent citizenship, measuring our success by the positive impact we have on the lives of others. We cultivate moral and spiritual development, learning that a life means more when it is given to something greater than the self.

At TVS, learning is deep and purposeful-woven together with meaningful experiences that broaden perspective and build resilience. Students stretch intellectually, explore passions in athletics and the visual and performing arts, and engage deeply in outdoor and global education. Along the way, they grow as thoughtful learners and compassionate leaders, ready to navigate complexity, contribute to their communities, and lead with empathy and integrity.

Faculty and Coaching

We recruit and retain exemplary educators whose classroom instruction is matched by meaningful contributions across school life. At TVS, teaching extends well beyond the four walls of a classroom: it lives on the stage, on the field, in advisory circles, on outdoor trips, and in everyday conversations that shape character as much as intellect.

Picture yourself here: greeting students by name as they arrive with energy and questions; leading a lively discussion that invites multiple perspectives; coaching a team where effort and trust matter as much as the scoreboard; or walking alongside colleagues who are generous with ideas and quick to collaborate. Faculty are trusted as professionals, encouraged to bring their full talents to the community. Innovation is welcomed. Curiosity is shared. Relationships matter.

Culture

TVS educators model resiliency, flexibility, and persistence-the spirit captured in our motto, Per Aspera ad Astra (Through Difficulty to the Stars). We embrace challenges as opportunities for growth, and we guide students to meet high expectations with confidence and integrity. Here, teachers inspire not only through expertise, but through care, authenticity, and a deep belief in each student's ability to meet a worthy challenge.

TVS actively seeks diverse faculty and staff whose backgrounds reflect a global community. We are deeply committed to advancing equity, inclusion, and belonging as central to our mission and the life of the school.

Athletic Department Mission

The Athletic Department's mission is to inspire extraordinary students to become competent, competitive, character-based athletes. TVS coaches model hard work, leadership, and a growth mindset, helping student-athletes learn and thrive both on and off the court.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Girls Basketball Head Coach for our Middle School B Team for the Winter 2026–2027 season, beginning in November 2026. The position is part-time, seasonal, and stipend-based, and reports to Athletic Director Brandon Palomo. TVS competes in the Southwest Preparatory Conference (SPC); learn more at spcsports.org.

We believe a middle school team can be a powerful place to learn-not only how to pass, defend, and make decisions on the court, but how to respond to a challenge, support a teammate, and keep growing. The coach we're looking for teaches fundamental basketball skills, instills life lessons, and helps middle schoolers build a lasting love for the game. You'll be part of a collaborative athletic department whose mission is to inspire extraordinary students to become competent, competitive, character-based athletes. Our coaches model hard work, leadership, and a growth mindset, and help students understand that how they play matters as much as the result.

What You'll Do

You'll plan and organize effective practice sessions that meet B Team athletes where they are, teach the fundamentals with patience and purpose, and give each player meaningful opportunities to improve. In games and practices alike, you'll model good sportsmanship and connect daily coaching choices to the life lessons we hope students carry beyond basketball.

Collaboration is central to this role. You'll work closely with the A team coaches and athletic leadership so that students experience a thoughtful, connected basketball program. You'll also build positive connections across Lower School and Upper School, and with students and families, contributing to the warm, supportive community that makes TVS special. As a member of the athletic department, you'll abide by TVS and SPC rules and regulations and continuously seek resources that can strengthen your coaching.

We ask our coaches to support the TVS Mission and the school's goals for equity, inclusion, and community. You'll help create an environment where students feel respected, encouraged, and able to contribute, while supporting the multi-sport student-athlete concept and the broad interests and development of young people.

What You Bring

You bring at least two years of coaching experience at the club level, middle school level, or above, along with the ability to teach fundamental basketball skills to middle school students. Strong oral and written communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills will help you plan well, collaborate with colleagues, and build trust with students and families. You are committed to the multi-sport student-athlete concept and to supporting TVS's Mission, equity and inclusion commitments, and community goals.

Before beginning work, you must hold CPR certification and complete TVS-required training, have a valid Texas driver's license and pass a motor vehicle records search, and complete ESC Region 11 Bus Driver certification. Just as important, you bring care for young people and a willingness to keep learning-qualities that help a coach turn a season into a meaningful part of a student's growth.

How To Apply

Apply through Trinity Valley School Career Opportunities by submitting an online application, cover letter, and résumé. For questions, contact Brandon Palomo, Director of Athletics, at (817) 321.0162 or palomob@tvs.org.
