What you’ll do
- Maintain accurate financial records through meticulous bookkeeping practices, including double-entry bookkeeping and journal entries.
- Manage accounts payable and receivable processes, ensuring timely payments and collections.
- Conduct thorough bank reconciliations and balance sheet reconciliations to ensure accuracy in financial reporting.
- Prepare financial reports that provide insights into the organization’s fiscal health, utilizing your knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles).
- Assist with payroll processing, ensuring compliance with applicable regulations and timely disbursement of wages.
- Perform account analysis and account reconciliation to identify discrepancies and resolve issues promptly.
- Utilize various accounting software such as QuickBooks, Quicken, Sage, Xero, and others to streamline financial operations.
- Support budgeting processes by providing relevant financial data and insights to aid decision-making.
Experience
- Some experience in bookkeeping or accounting roles with a basic understanding of corporate accounting practices.
- Familiarity with non-profit accounting or governmental accounting is a plus.
- Proficient in using accounting software; experience with QuickBooks is highly desirable.
- Good understanding of financial concepts including debits & credits, general ledger accounting, and technical accounting principles.
- Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks effectively.
- Ability to communicate complex financial information clearly to non-financial stakeholders.
- Experience in tax preparation or public accounting is advantageous but not mandatory.
- Proficient typing skills (10 key typing) for efficient data entry.
